Rapoport Lev

Lev Rapoport was born in 1945 in Moscow, where he still lives and works at present.

You will not find anything pompous and monumental among his creations. His art is low-key, which does not make it less significant. His artworks need peering into and “listening to" in order to feel their depth. Mysterious and limitless abilities of the artist to convey dramatic difficulties and life's joys through seemingly simple subjects, his paintings – reflections literally enchant you by their powerful energy. Exquisite color, the light coming from inside of the paintings, freedom, power and uncontrollable but confident hand, scale and delicacy; these are the traits of his creative manner. Meanwhile, the visible plastic form of his conception invariably conveys a sense of proportion and a strive for harmonic finality. However, it is not the subject or the imagery that he uses as main tools when creating his world, but the color.

Rapoport's color should be mentioned specifically; this is the root and the basis of his creative activity. His coloristic developments are always perfect, always subtle, meant for most discerning viewers and masterful indeed. They combine in some amazing way utmost brevity and marvelous richness and exquisiteness, modesty and bravery. The color scale reigns here — this is the element which acts according to its own laws, and all the objects get dissolved in this element, acquiring new color expressions alongside new essence. It is with color that Rapoport manages to feel and reveal the pulse of the mystery in an object, which is the red line of his creative activity. The world captured by Rapoport's canvases is filled with the universal breath of beauty and harmony. It reflects deep and powerful thirst for perfection, which has driven the life of this talented artist.

Lev Rapoport is a member of the Artists' Union of Russia and International Federation of Artists, he has participated in several exhibitions both in Russia and abroad. The artist's personal exhibitions have taken place in Moscow and St.Petersburg, his artworks are presented in private collections in Russia, USA, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, Israel, Switzerland and some other countries.
