"...What can I give art? So far, I have only been partaking of it... Energy, mood, knowledge, feelings, patience, presentiment of a mistake and confidence in reliability... I paint when I can’t help it – it can be said so… I do not express my attitude to goings-on with the help of art. I am trying to understand what is going on. When understanding I may be stunned, delighted, upset, or devastated...

...Still life is a dialogue, an argument, sometimes even a heated one. I never know what will come out in advance. That’s my peculiarity. Someone can see an ideal in their mind and move toward it. I don’t. I never want anything definite. Initial «decision» is for me, for my mindset, for my hand, and not for the canvas. It’s not only me who works there. And I cannot control it...

...Art will live without me, I will have difficulty living without it...

...I am happy when I paint...
