Valentin Aleksandrovich Karavaev - Soviet and Russian film director, animator, screenwriter, graphic artist. Honored Artist of the Russian Federation (1996). He graduated from Moscow art school and entered the courses of animator artists at the Soyuzmultfilm movie studio, which he graduated in 1959. After completing the courses, he began working in the "Crocodile' satire magazine. In 1968 he graduated from the faculty of directing animated films at VGIK and began making films at the Soyuzmultfilm studio.

In 1969, he released his first (diploma) animated film - "Father Frost and Summer", which immediately gained recognition and success. The author was even more famous for the animated film “The Return of the Prodigal Parrot” (1984), the story of the eccentric and selfish parrot Kesha. In 1995, V. Karavaev became the artistic director of the Animafilm studio at the Moscow Children's Fund.

Together with his wife, Galina Karavaeva, he worked on illustrations, caricatures and ceramic sculpture. Working in the cinema, Galina and Valentin Karavaev created 25 animated films. Their films were awarded with diplomas and prizes at international film festivals. The works of G. and V. Karavaev are represented in museums in Russia and abroad.
