Karavaeva Galina

1928 — 2014

Galina Adolfovna Karavaeva studied at the Moscow Polygraphic Institute at the editorial and publishing department of the graphic department (1946 – 1951). In 1951 – 1953 she worked as an art editor at the Kyrgyz State Publishing House. In 1954 – 1956 Karavaeva studied at the courses of animators at the Soyuzmultfilm. In 1957 – 1990 she collaborated with the famous magazine "Crocodile" as a cartoonist, where in collaboration with her husband Valentin Karavaev published over 3,500 caricatures. Over the years of joint work, artists participated in 25 all-Union and 35 international exhibitions.

In parallel, since 1957, Galina Karavaeva has been on the staff of Soyuzmultfilm (animator and production designer, mainly in the films of V. A. Karavaev). With Valentin Karavaev she wrote scripts for animated scenes for the popular serials "Wick", she took part in the development of types for all cartoons of V. A. Karavaev. Together with him and independently worked on illustrations, caricatures, paintings, ceramic sculpture. Working in the cinema, Galina and Valentin Karavaev created 25 animated films. Their films were awarded with diplomas and awards at international film festivals. The works of G. and V. Karavaev are marked by international prizes, are in museums of Russia and abroad.
