Kostromin Boris
Boris Kostromin was born in Omsk in 1941. He graduated from Stroganov School for technical drawing (today Moscow State Stroganov Academy of Industrial and Applied Arts). The bookplate became the starting point in the artist's self-expression but his love for learning the world and for travel reflected in the new tasks, materials, textures.
“The artist is an expert of human soul, an inventor and a documentalist", – Boris Kostromin thinks, – and all these qualities are combined in him in various proportions. Now the only thing left is to choose the means of expression. Kostromin prefers the drawing. He uses crayons, ball-point pen, paints. As a result there appear landscapes of Pereslavl-Zalessky, Moscow and Kashira where the artist spends a lot of time.
Boris Kostromin prefers to create roundish compositions. The artist himself calls it “fish eye": he places the viewer into the dynamics of the “cyclorama" where he is himself, granting us unique perception esthetics. When looking at his landscapes you seem to be looking through the binoculars. The artist does not limit himself by painting and graphics. He is fond of ceramics and makes sculpture from wire.
Boris Kostromin has taken part in many exhibitions, his artworks are presented in private collections both in Russia and abroad.
