Votrin Viktor

1941 — 2007

Viktor Votrin was born in Moscow in 1941. At the age of 25 he graduated from the poster workshop of Surikov Art Institute in Moscow where he had studied under the guidance of N. А. Ponomarev, О. М. Savostuk and B. А. Uspensky. In 1971 Votrin became a member of the USSR Union of Artists.

He mainly worked in the area of social and political poster and cooperated actively with the workshop of visual propaganda attached to the Arts Fund “Agitplakat” (Propaganda poster). His most famous works include: “Shine, our constellation!” (1966), “Five years of quality with our high-powered work, mastership and inspiration!” (1976), “Our young hearts to our Motherland” (1977), the triptych called “I am the citizen of the Soviet Union” (1977), “Our happiness is in the open way so that our motherland could flourish” (1978), “All jobs are fine, choose what you like” (1978), “Sun, air and water are our best friends” (1978).

Viktor Votrin tried himself in painting as well but his artworks are practically unknown to the wide audience. However he is the author of lyrical landscapes some of which are presented in private collections in Russia.
