Manezh is opeing the exhibition telling about the period of Romantic realism in the Soviet art from 1925 till 1945. The main idea of this project is to show how Soviet reality was reflected in official art and how artists created the myths of the epoch. 12 sections of the exhibition represent more than 80 famous artworks of the time when social realism flourished –it was the official style in the USSR and considered as the only right one in all sorts of art. Many Russian museums generously donated works for the project, among them State Tretyakov Gallery, State Russian Museum, Museum and Exhibition center «ROSIZO», State History Museum, Central Museum of Military Power, State Museum of Oriental Art, State Museum of Russian History. At the brightly decorated central exhibition site of the country you can see the canonical pieces by all recognized masters of the Soviet art: Sergey Gerasimov, Alexander Deineka, Pavel Korin, Alexander Labas, Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin, Yuri Pimenov, Arkadiy Plastov and other not less significant artists of the first half of the 20th century.
